Ukraine synchronizes its actions in relation to Belarus

The day before, the EU decided to include Lukashenka on the sanctions list. Ukraine will join the decision after its formal approval.

Ukraine intends to join the sanctions against Alexander Lukashenko following the corresponding final decision of the European Union, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said on Tuesday, October 13.

“Our position with regard to Belarus has been consistent and clear from the first day of the beginning of this crisis. We have joined the relevant statements of the European Union, regarding the sanctions that have already been introduced, we will join them. As for the new sanctions, we will do so to act according to an agreed algorithm, that is, first the European Union adopts sanctions, and then we consider the issue of joining them, ”said the minister.

According to him, the question of the interaction between Ukraine and the EU in relation to Belarus is an example of how the convergence of the foreign policies of the EU and Ukraine envisaged by the Association Agreement works.

Let us remind you that on October 2, the EU introduced sanctions against Belarus. Later, some 40 representatives of the leadership of the republic were included in the list of restrictive measures, but Lukashenka was not among them.

The day before, the foreign ministers of the EU member states made the decision to impose sanctions against Lukashenka.
