Four more hospitals are preparing to receive coronavirus patients. These are the Kiev city center for the radiological protection of the population from the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and the capital’s hospitals No. 1, 12 and 15.

In Kiev, almost 2.8 thousand beds were also installed in 22 hospitals to treat patients with coronavirus. This was announced on Tuesday, October 13, by the mayor of the city, Vitali Klitschko, and showed a video of the check on how the municipal hospital No. 18 is preparing to receive patients with COVID-19.

“We continue to increase the number of beds for the treatment of coronavirus patients in the municipal medical facilities of the capital. And we are doing everything we can to provide hospitals and doctors with everything they need. We have already deployed 2,730 beds in 22 metropolitan hospitals. Of these, 17 hospitals are already receiving and treating patients with the virus. Others are completing the disposition of departments to admit these patients. Yesterday I visited the 18 clinical hospital in the city, which we are preparing to receive coronavirus patients, “Klitschko said.

According to him, one of the floors of the medical facility is being equipped with a department to receive coronavirus patients. There a 100-bed infectious diseases department was installed. And also – 60 beds for patients with suspected COVID-19. The hospital is already accepting these patients. The infectious disease department is still re-equipping itself. There will also be separate intensive care rooms.

Klitschko said that the hospital №18 has already received medicines from the city for more than 3 million hryvnia. And also four fans worth almost 3 million UAH. The city also allocated more than 1 million hryvnia for the repair of the oxygen supply system. In particular, 30 points for oxygen supply have already been equipped there. There will be 80 of them in total. The medical institution trained and educated doctors on how to work with coronavirus patients and formed ten teams of medical personnel to work in the infectious disease department.

Medical workers who will work with COVID-19 patients are provided with the necessary personal protective equipment, medications, and special equipment to disinfect the facilities. The hospital allocated almost UAH 4 million for this.

“Four more hospitals are preparing today to receive coronavirus patients. This is the Kiev city center for the radiological protection of the population from the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and the capital’s hospitals No. 1, 12 and 15 I emphasize: this is what the city is doing on its own. In conditions in which the dynamics of the spread of the virus is such that very soon we may not have enough beds in hospitals, and at the same time, institutions State, departmental and medical Academy of Medical Sciences do not accept people from Kiev with coronavirus. Although they have a total of 11 thousand beds and qualified staff. I think this is not statist and, to put it mildly, strange position of the government and the Ministry of Health, that meanwhile they speak of the deployment of hospitals in sports palaces, etc. ”, said Klitschko.

We recall, last week the Kiev authorities asked the government for help with a request to help in the fight against the coronavirus, as hospitals in the capital are running out of places for patients.

It was also learned that since the beginning of the pandemic in Kiev, a quarter of doctors resigned. They are quitting due to the low wages they pay to work with COVID patients.
