Kharkiv public and media released a video from the airport area, where ambulances arrived. Mayor Gennady Kernes will likely be sent to Germany for further treatment on a special plane. This is the same plane that transported Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny to Berlin, Obshchestvennoe notes.
On September 16, a Nuremberg medical board landed at Kharkiv airport, which is presumably supposed to transport Kharkiv’s mayor, Gennady Kernes, for treatment in Germany. Kernes has been diagnosed with a coronavirus infection.
According to Public, the Bombardier Challenger 604 aircraft with tail number D-AFAD, which belongs to the FAI Aviation Group, transported Russian politician Alexei Navalny to Germany after being poisoned.
In the airport terminal there are cars with the numbers “0202”, which are used by the guards and the mayor’s entourage, reports the channel’s correspondent.
Telegram channels post videos of ambulances heading from the 17 hospital area of the city.
Ambulances arrived at the airport around 8:00 p.m., according to the Objective media group.
The Kharkiv Today edition wrote on the afternoon of September 16 that medical councils decided on the need to transport Kernes abroad. Against the background of the underlying illness of Kernes, who has been confined to a wheelchair since 2014, treating COVID-19 is difficult, the source said. According to him, the mayor is now connected to a fan, which requires special transport conditions.
Kernes last appeared in public on August 23, at events for City Day and National Flag Day. On September 14, ZN.UA reported that he became ill in early September and was hospitalized last week with bilateral pneumonia. Sources in the publication claimed that Kernes was in a coma. The city council said: mayor on sick leave, but he completely controls the situation in the city.
