Clinics in the cities of Almaty and Taraz have begun vaccinating 3,000 volunteers with QazCovid-in.

Kazakhstan has started coronavirus vaccination of volunteers with the national drug QazCovid-in, the prime minister’s press service said.

“To date, the Research Institute (Biosafety Issues Scientific Research Institute in Gvardeisky Village, Kordai District, Zhambyl Region – IF-K) has conducted Phase I and II clinical trials of the domestic vaccine QazCovid-in (…). The Ministry of Health approved the beginning of the final, III phases of clinical trials in three thousand volunteers. Today, the first volunteers were vaccinated with the domestic vaccine in research institutes, clinics in cities from Almaty and Taraz, “says the statement on the Prime Minister’s website.

“Until the end of December this year, the vaccination of three thousand volunteers will be completed. For phase III the necessary batch of vaccine will be produced in the amount of 10,000 doses,” says the message.

It was previously reported that a plant for the production of the Russian COVID vaccine would be built in Kazakhstan. The government of Kazakhstan has already started negotiations to attract investment in this project, said Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.
