“March 2019. October Palace. Our last meeting with Mikhail Zhvanetsky. As always, he went out and went to a standing ovation. Kievans met him and saw him off standing. Even at 85 years old he did not change his way of life: each year spent several warm months in his homeland Odessa, every year, touring Ukraine, in addition to the time-tested classics, he read his fresh, newly written works! He did not lose form until the end: neither form nor content. Brilliant and instant way to any comment, that time he came to us after the concert from the dressing room, and he walked harder than usual. [Гордон] he asked: “What, Mikhal Mikhalych, are you a little tired?” They found it immediately: “Dimochka, well, you see, the head is young and the legs are from year 34 of release. I would like to replace them!” There was only a week left before the presidential elections and I called Vladimir Zelensky on the loudspeaker. Michal Mikhalych wished him victory. The conversation of these witty and professional people made Dima and me laugh, it was a lot of fun … Genius left. The time is gone. Sadness. May it be good for you there, dear Michal Mikhalych … “- wrote the editor-in-chief of the publication” GORDON “, Alesya Batsman.

We were introduced and immediately I told Mikhail Mikhailovich a lot of political jokes about Yushchenko, Putin, Tymoshenko, Lutsenko … The teacher came back to his wife and said: “Honey, this is the Minister of the Interior of Ukraine. He tells wonderful jokes about your president and prime minister. And also – about who am I afraid to listen to even here. Sir, I want to live in this country. ” My wife raised her eyebrows and asked me how old I was and where I worked at the Home Office before the revolution. I replied that I was 41 years old and had not served in the Ministry of the Interior for a single day, I only know a couple of policemen who were standing in front of my tent. He sighed and said sadly, “Misha, I would like to live in this country too.” Then we met more than once. They always laughed at politics. It was evident that MMZH is resting with his soul, living and creating in his fun fluffy headphones (from the noise of nightclubs) right here in Odessa. Wise Citizen of who will always remain. Thanks for everything, Master! “

He visited my house many times. Usually he came to me, we drank until late at night, then he got behind the wheel of his very cheerful convertible, quite drunk, but in very good condition, and drove imposingly out of the Odessa Regional Council Reception House residence, greeting us and all passers-by. That’s how I remember him. What can I say about him? He was a great man, very free. And just a good man. A great citizen of Odessa and a great citizen of the world passed away. Last year he had a concert at the Odessa Musical Comedy, for some reason I couldn’t go to see him and now I will regret it all my life. After the concert he had to come to me for tea, but he called me and said that his health wouldn’t allow it. did not allow him to return ar to Odessa, part of whose history was with thawed forever, “added Saakashvili.

Proud to have known Master personally, I could sometimes laugh with him and sometimes speak seriously “for Odessa.” It is hard to believe that a living classic, a legend and a prominent representative of the time left us so early … We will remember you forever, to cite your immortal works, donate your books and review performances. Thank you for “laughing through your tears”, Mikhal Mikhalych! We are not crying, we are still living! “
“Mikhail Zhvanetsky – just apparently about the funny. He is about a person, of honor and dignity. His prayers are razor sharp. And he uses his ability to express an exact thought, like a true philosopher and thinker. Listening and reading to Zhvanetsky, you are convinced that intelligence, goodness and freedom are mutually conditioned things.
