Ukraine and the United Kingdom conducted the first phase of Exercise Joint Efforts 2020. The exercises began with the landing of British and Ukrainians. With wings infantrymen “in the Nikolaev region.

As noted, the first stage of the Joint Efforts exercise began with the landing of airborne troops, heavy infantry weapons, and equipment from the Royal Air Force C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft.

The C-130 Hercules aircraft of the British Air Force took to the skies from a military airfield in Great Britain and a few hours later paratroopers from the 16th Airborne Assault Brigade of the British Armed Forces began to leave the open ramps of the Hercules C -130. The landing took place at a training ground in the Nikolaev region.

One of the first to land on Ukrainian soil together with his own personnel was the commander of the 16th Airborne Assault Brigade of the British Armed Forces, Brigadier General James Martin. At the landing site, he was received by the commander of the airborne assault forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yevgeny Moisyuk.

Subsequently, the Ukrainian military aircraft Il-76MD and An-26 entered the combat course. On the parachute platforms were air cargo and units of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The landing of the British and Ukrainian troops was carried out under the cover of fighters of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After disembarking with weapons and equipment, all personnel rushed to the assembly points. On the advance routes, the Ukrainian and British paratroopers performed various tasks, in particular, taking control of important areas, objects and the like.

The Air Force Command noted that this is the first time that an exercise of this format has been carried out. Its aim is the practical implementation of tasks in a multinational environment in accordance with NATO standards and procedures, increasing the level of compatibility between units of the Armed Forces and Ukraine’s partner states.

The united efforts will bring together 12,000 military personnel, 700 pieces of weapons and military equipment, as well as advisers from NATO countries.

We will recall, on September 17, that Volodymyr Zelenskyy inaugurated the Rapid Trident-2020 exercise in the Lviv region.
