The head of the Ministry of Health, Maxim Stepanov, notes that if the enhanced quarantine is not introduced in January, it will be urgently introduced in February 2021 against the background of a large increase in incidence.

He said this on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24.

According to the head of the Ministry of Health, the form that the Cabinet of Ministers proposes to introduce as of January 8, 2021 is not a hard confinement, as it was in European countries.

«For example, in France you couldn’t leave home without filling out a form. Curfew, maximum 1 km from the house; yes, it is closure. We have certain sectors of the economy that are closing, in addition, the monetary compensation is assigned at the initiative of the President ”, he recalled.

The minister added that if the government does not announce a blockade in January, “then it will be necessary to guarantee that we will do so urgently in February in the context of a large increase in incidence.”

Stepanov also explained that the strict quarantine will be introduced only from January 8, since December is important for trade, and in the period from January 1 to 7 in Ukraine. «natural blocking ”.

«We have, above all, economic circumstances. For many people, December is before the New Year – this is a fairly important period of the year, when all their trading takes place. Second, if we look at what happens from January 1 to January 6, before Christmas … then we have such a natural lockdown. There are few people on the streets, people spend time with their families, visit friends, many do not work, “said the head of the Ministry of Health.

The government of Ukraine decided to strengthen the quarantine from January 8 to 24, 2021.

During the hard quarantine period, work will be prohibited:

  • cafes, restaurants and bars (except delivery and take away)
  • non-food stores
  • cinemas, gyms, gyms, theaters and shopping malls

All educational institutions, except kindergartens, will also be sent on vacation.

All public events will be prohibited.

Passengers will be able to enter public transport only by the number of seats and only with masks.

Grocery stores, banks, pharmacies, postal operators, and hotels will continue to operate.
