The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after the corruption scandal in which the popular deputy of the “Servant of the People” Oleksandr Yurchenko appears, recalled that his team went to the elections with the promise of ending corruption.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on the morning of September 17 on Telegram that he hopes anti-corruption agencies will work faster to expose the activities of the “profit seekers” in power.

“When we went to the polls, we promised people that the old corrupt days would end. That there will be no exceptions, there will be no special exceptions, excuses will not be accepted. Forgotten? So fast? Why does anyone still think they can try become personally. ” Except “from this promise and behave so defiantly?” – he wrote.

Zelensky did not specify who he had in mind, but a corruption scandal broke out in mid-September involving Oleksandr Yurchenko, a deputy from the pro-presidential Servant of the People faction.

“I want all officials, all deputies to examine themselves closely, in their affairs and remember that bribery will be very painful. I also hope that the NABU, the Anti-Corruption Special Prosecutor’s Office and the General Prosecutor’s Office will continue to listen to society and therefore Both will work much faster and more productively in order to expose the activities of all the profit seekers in power, “added the president.

On September 13, People’s Deputy Geo Leros, expelled from the Servant of the People faction, said that NABU had announced suspicions to the deputy of Yurchenko People’s Deputy, Ivan Fischenko. According to Leros, Fischenko received a bribe of $ 13,000 of the $ 200,000 that Yurchenko had planned for amendments to a bill related to household waste. The suspicion was handed over to the assistant on September 10, confirmed in the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

According to detectives, the People’s Deputy “in a veiled way” asked to transfer $ 13,000 through an intermediary to make proposals for the bill and another $ 200,000 to bribe the people’s deputies – committee members. The Anti-Corruption Office said it had gathered a sufficient amount of evidence to report the suspicion to the People’s Deputy and, since September 10, asked Ukraine’s Attorney General Irina Venediktova to sign the draft suspicion, but did not take a decision in five days.

Fischenko was arrested on September 15 with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of UAH 1 million 550 thousand. He said that he had not received bribes and did not communicate with the deputy.

Venediktova on September 15 in the Verkhovna Rada said that the National Anti-Corruption Office did not transfer the materials of the criminal process. She believes that there is still no reason to announce suspicions to Yurchenko.

The People’s Deputy announced his withdrawal from the “Servant of the People” faction. The office of the President of Ukraine expects Yurchenko to cooperate with the National Anti-Corruption Office.

NABU published a video in which showed the conversation of the defendants in the case. In particular, the popular deputy speaks of the need to “help the environment”, and the mediator calls it “buns” money expected to be received for making amendments to the bill.

On September 17 it became known that Venediktova signed Yurchenko’s suspicion.
