According to the language defender, all those who intend to become people’s deputies in the next convocation, who want to work as a minister or commissioner for the protection of the state language, must confirm their knowledge of the Ukrainian language in the exam.

“If there is the intention to apply for some positions, prepare, train, hire teachers or excuse me, as they say,” Kremen stressed.

On April 25, 2019, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in second reading and generally the bill No. 5670-d to ensure the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language, which was supported by 278 deputies. One of the requirements of this law is compulsory knowledge of the Ukrainian language by all civil servants and civil servants. It entered into force in July 2019, but some of its provisions, such as examinations for civil servants, will come into effect later.

On July 7, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine began to consider the presentation of 51 people’s deputies on the compliance of this law with the Constitution.
