Israel Sets World Record For COVID-19 Vaccination Rate

In Israel, about 647 thousand people were vaccinated against COVID-19, which is 7% of more than 9.2 million of its inhabitants, more than in any other country in the world per capita.

This was reported by CNBC. The country’s Health Ministry said more people were vaccinated in the first nine days of the campaign than the total number of reported infections.

“We are ahead of the world in the production and use of vaccines. Israel is the world champion in vaccines, we have the first place in the number of vaccines,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 0.8% of the population in the United States was vaccinated as of December 30. But the agency cautions that this figure may lag behind actual vaccines, as the United States isn’t rushing to release data. However, in recent days, federal officials have acknowledged that implementation has been slower than desired.

Although Israel’s population is slightly larger than New Jersey’s, the country’s success in rapidly deploying first doses to a large portion of its population could serve as a lesson for countries like the United States.

Dr. Jonathan Rainer, professor of medicine and surgery at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Public Health, pointed to Israel as a potential role model for the world.

“Israel leads the world. They are vaccinating per capita 15 times faster than the United States. They have already vaccinated 20% of their population over 60,” he said.

Recall that the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has approved a plan to immunize the population against COVID-19. According to him, during the 2021-2022 period, they plan to vaccinate at least 50% of the country’s inhabitants, which is about 20 million people. The vaccines themselves will be free, they will be made at the request of citizens, that is, they will not be forced.

Vaccine deliveries to Ukraine are scheduled for the first half of 2021 – the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second. In the first stage, they plan to vaccinate 355 thousand people. First of all, these are doctors who work with coronavirus patients, military personnel from the environmental protection zone, and social workers in nursing homes. The Ministry of Health noted that vaccination for all Ukrainians will be voluntary and free.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, in European countries on Sunday, December 27, they began to massively vaccinate against the coronavirus with the vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech. It is the only drug that has been approved for use by the regulatory authorities of the European Union. Until now, free and voluntary vaccination has been started for people from risk groups in France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and others.
