Progress in the negotiations on the downed Ukrainian plane will contribute to the normalization of relations between Ukraine and Iran in all spheres, said Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin.

Iran will provide equal compensation to the families of all the victims of the Ukrainian plane crash shot down near Tehran in January. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevgeniy Yenin during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.

The meeting took place in Iran on October 19.

“We welcome Iran’s decision to take full responsibility for the downing of the Ukrainian plane, as well as its willingness to provide the same amount of compensation to the families of all victims, regardless of their citizenship … Progress in the process of negotiation on the Ukrainian plane will contribute to the normalization of cooperation with Iran in all areas, “he added. – Jenin said.

He stressed the need for an impartial investigation into the disaster and called on Iran to ensure access to the necessary materials.

In addition, Jenin informed Zarif about the consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, in particular, about the militarization in the Azov-Black Sea region and the violation of the inhabitants of the Crimea annexed by the invaders.

Zarif confirmed his support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, adding that no third country will influence Iran’s policy towards Ukraine.

Ukraine, as a state, is negotiating with Iran along with other countries whose citizens died on board. These negotiations began on July 29. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said the first round of talks lasted 11 hours. As a result, the parties could not agree on the amount of compensation for the downed Boeing.

Today, October 19, the second stage of negotiations began in Iran. Kiev wants to find out all the circumstances of the missile attack on the plane.

A Boeing 737-800 passenger plane of Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752, which was heading from Tehran to Kiev, crashed on January 8 near the Iranian capital. On board were 167 passengers and nine crew members. Nobody survived. Among the dead – 11 citizens of Ukraine. Most of the passengers were Iranian and Canadian citizens.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine is waiting for an official apology for the incident.

On July 23, Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeniy Yenin said that decryption of the black box data, which was completed in France, confirmed the illegal interference in the operation of the passenger ship.

On August 23, the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran released a series of data received from the on-board voice recorder and the flight data recorder of the UIA plane. According to records, the crew knew of the emergency and tried to control the plane to the end.

Iran has stated that it agrees to pay compensation for the downed Ukrainian passenger Boeing. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that solving this problem “will take time and will have several aspects from a technical and legal point of view”, and the head of the Central Insurance Organization of Iran, Gholamreza Suleimani, He said the UIA should not receive compensation from Iran, as Boeing shot down by the Iranian military was insured by European companies.
