It’s no secret that Intel labs are working on Xe graphics processors, including a code-named 7nm GPU Ponte Vecchio for the field of resource-intensive computing. The corporation already has engineering samples of said chip. This is confirmed by a photograph posted by Intel’s graphics division on Twitter, which, according to Raja Koduri, represents the “father of all” GPUs.
Externally, graphically, the Intel Xe-HPC (High Performance Computing) chip resembles the Xeon server processor in the BGA version. Its dimensions are approximately 77.5 x 50 mm, and under the heat distribution cover, according to the available data, there are eight separate crystals. For clarity, in the center of the photo is an AA-size battery. To date, any mention of this image has been removed from Twitter accounts Intel Graphics and Raji Koduri.
The Intel Ponte Vecchio GPU is scheduled for launch in 2021. It is designed for the HPC and machine learning areas, in particular the novelty will be used in the Aurora supercomputer with a processing power of one exaflops.
