Antiseptic that caused the poisoning

The examination found that the antiseptic contained 69% methanol. Immediately after the binge, three people died, the rest soon died in hospital.

Seven residents of Yakutia’s Tattinsky district died after drinking an antiseptic bottle. In all, nine people were poisoned. This is reported by the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.

It is noted that on November 18, the company bought a five-liter bottle with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer from the store and drank it. The remainder of the funds were subsequently sent for review, which established the content of 69% methanol.

The poisoning occurred in the town of Tomtor, Tattinsky region of the Russian Federation. During inspections, the Rospotrebnadzor department discovered the implementation of this antiseptic in two regions of the republic, products with a volume of more than 200 liters were withdrawn from sale.

At first, three Yakutian deaths were reported, however gradually their number increased to seven. Russia’s Investigative Committee for Yakutia opened a criminal case when the death toll reached four.

Remember that in 2016 in Irkutsk there was a mass poisoning with a liquid containing alcohol. The poisoning was caused by methyl alcohol, which was contained in hawthorn concentrate. 76 people died from poisoning, 123 more suffered.

And soon in St. Petersburg, three people were poisoned by a Santa Claus window cleaner.
