Everything the Ukrainian authorities have done to combat the coronavirus has banned Russian vaccines. This is stated in the party statement “Opposition Platform – For Life” (OLLP) on its website.
The opposition concluded that the team of the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, had failed in the campaign to vaccinate the population. “Last summer, Zelenskiy said ties with Western partners would help get vaccines started as soon as possible. That Ukraine will soon develop its own drug. But today, vaccination in Ukraine, unlike in most European countries, has not started. In the purchase of vaccines, covert games continue with the construction of muddy schemes and the search for incomprehensible intermediaries, ”said the HLE.
On January 29, Zelenskiy commented on the vaccination situation in Ukraine. “The supply of the vaccine is not only a question of health and life of the Ukrainians, but also of politics and geopolitics,” Zelensky said. He also thanked the European Union for the initiative to create a mechanism to transfer the coronavirus vaccine to partner countries.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said the country would never register the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. Prior to that, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Kiev does not intend to buy the Russian vaccine against the coronavirus Sputnik V, even if its effectiveness is confirmed. According to him, Russia is not interested in the health of Ukrainian citizens and intends to use drugs to combat COVID-19 only for propaganda purposes.
The Sputnik V vaccine, developed by NF Gamalea, became the first registered vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 in the world. A unique approach has been applied in the production of the vaccine, which involves the use of two different types of vectors based on the human adenovirus, which makes it possible to enhance the immune response and form long-term immunity.
