In Ukraine, in July and December, the cost of living will be recalculated. As a result, the minimum pension will increase by 165 UAH and the maximum by 1,650 UAH.
The new calculation is provided by the Law on the Budget of Ukraine for 2021. So, from July 1, the minimum pension will increase from 1,769 UAH to 1,854 UAH, and the maximum payment – from 17,690 UAH to 18,540 UAH. Starting on December 1, there will be another increase – to 1934 and 19,340 UAH, respectively.
As indicated in the data from the Ministry of Social Affairs, even taking into account the outdated calculation method, the subsistence minimum should be almost double the current one. The minimum pension is set at the minimum subsistence level for those who cannot work.
By the way, with an average salary, you can count on a pension of about 3.5 thousand UAH. At the same time, those Ukrainians who show the minimum wage and pay taxes on it, when they take a well-deserved break, can count on a payment of only 1,769 UAH.
Ukraine has one of the lowest pension levels in Europe. In addition, due to the large number of sole proprietors, shadow employment, salaries in envelopes, the Pension Fund loses billions of hryvnias.
