In Ukraine, approximately half of the alcohol market is occupied by counterfeit products (counterfeit, without excise or control). Most often, these drinks are found on the Internet, in markets, in small shops.

This is stated in the OBOZREVATEL material. Nobody blocks websites that sell illegal alcohol, because there is no corresponding legislative provision. Alcohol is sent freely by postal services, sold in small wholesale markets at prices well below the minimum allowed. No one can guarantee the quality of shade alcohol, but many Ukrainians are not concerned. According to Igor Tovkach, bMore than half of all alcohol consumed in our country is made illegally.

“According to authorized foreign sources, in 2016, the shadow market in Ukraine was 46% absolute alcohol (100% alcohol) of everything consumed by people. And the shadow segment is growing even more. According to our calculations , continued to grow to 52-54% of the market in 2019. “

Strong alcohol (vodka) accounts for around 70% of the illegal market, 3% of beer and 27% of wine. Due to the current situation, our state annually loses around UAH 25 billion in lost taxes and fees.

In large supermarkets and chain stores, alcohol, which is dangerous to health, is virtually never found, says Nina Kaldiy, head of the testing department at the Center for Expertise TEST. And here It is not difficult to buy counterfeit products in small shops, cafes, markets and the Internet.

“The tragic incidents that occur after consuming low-quality alcohol are all related to the sale” of hands “in small shops. You have to be very careful when buying products on the Internet – says the head of the laboratory.

In supermarkets, the infractions that the expert center managed to find are insignificant– do not indicate all the names of grape varieties in wines, do not resist the technology of making brandy, etc.

As OBOZREVATEL previously wrote, the new minimum prices for wine and champagne are in effect in Ukraine from January 26. If earlier a bottle could not be sold for less than 89 UAH, then according to the new rules, the price should be at least 109 UAH.
