An elderly woman received 50% fourth degree body burns while trying to burn grass in her area.
In the village of Gremyachye, Zhytomyr region, a 79-year-old woman died while trying to burn dry grass on her personal plot. This was reported by the State Service of Emergency Situations of Ukraine.
“In one of the daytime fires, a 79-year-old woman died … According to eyewitnesses, my grandmother decided to burn the remains of dry vegetation on her own personal plot. That day there was a dry and windy climate, which it contributed to the rapid spread of the flames. For a time, neighbors saw a thick column of smoke in the garden, “the message said.
At the scene, neighbors discovered a woman in a semi-conscious state. They called an ambulance, which delivered the victim to the hospital. However, it was not possible to save her: the woman received 50% of the fourth degree body burns.
In April, the Verkhovna Rada toughened the punishment for burning grass. For violation of fire safety, citizens will have to pay from 1530 to 4590 UAH, for officials, from 4590 to 15 300 UAH.
