The main battles of the qualifying round for the European Championship between young people under 21 for the Ukrainian youth team were left behind already two rounds before the end of this round. Unfortunately, we failed to realize the potential of the triumphant spine generation, who almost a year and a half ago at the U19 World Championship lifted the main trophy above their heads.
The Danish team will definitely go from our sextet to the playoffs, but Romania, who lost in the fight during the last pauses in international fights, will have to show the best statistics in the ranking of the second teams. Ruslan Rotan’s charges simply had to end the campaign with dignity in matches against two outsiders. The Blue-Yellows began the final segment with a trip to Malta, to visit the main loser of our group.
The game from the beginning was under the control of our team. Milovanov closed the center from Vantukh’s left wing, and Shevtsov, already in injury time, won the duel against goalkeeper Al-Tumi, who for some reason went straight to the side of the field on the left flank of the defense , after which our midfielder struck a sharp blow from an extremely acute angle at close to nine. Isayenko was less fortunate than his teammates: he managed to win a penalty with a fraudulent move against Pulis on the left flank of the area, but the forward failed to notice, the goalkeeper stopped the shot to the right corner.
The last match of the qualifying round for the Ukraine national team will be played at home, against rivals of the same age from Northern Ireland. Malta, in turn, will close the cycle with another home game against Finland.
