In Russia: an increase in COVID-19
In Russia, the number of infected people increases dramatically on a daily basis, despite authorities saying they have reached a plateau.
In the past two days, an increase in the number of coronavirus-infected COVID-19 has been observed in Russia in the context of the stable situation observed last week. This was announced on the air of one of the radio stations by Rospotrebnadzor chief Anna Popova, reports RBC.
“Yes, in fact, and yesterday, and today we see such a ‘tooth’, as analysts say, in the context of a fairly even situation for more than seven days,” he said.
Popova also noted that now in Russia there is an implementation of the risks that were mentioned about ten days ago.
“This situation was predicted,” said the head of Rospotrebnadzor.
In recent days in Russia, officials at the federal and regional levels often announced that they would soon reach a plateau for or access to coronavirus infection. So on April 29, the governor of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobyov, announced that the region was going to a plateau in terms of the number of people infected with the coronavirus. “We have reached a plateau. I think we will remain firm for some time, then the decline will continue,” he said then.
However, the following day, the operational headquarters reported a record increase in the number of infections detected with SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus per day in the region: 793.
On March 30, Veronika Skvortsova, director of the Federal Agency for Medicine and Biology (FMBA), also announced that she was going to a plateau. “We have, in fact, been almost on the plateau in the last week because of the number of new cases,” said Skvortsova. However, the next morning, data were received on a record number of recently confirmed cases of coronavirus infection per day across the country – 7,933. The previous day, 7,099 cases of the disease were reported, and the day before there were only 5,841 cases of the disease per day.
