The Kiev Pechersk court released the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Drozdov on personal liability on suspicion of negligence, leading to the crash of the An-26 plane and the death of 26 servicemen. Therefore, the court refused to comply with the prosecutor’s request for house arrest 24 hours a day and chose another preventive measure. This is reported by hromadske.
“The court, after listening to all parties, sent the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergei Drozdov under personal obligation, imposing on him the corresponding duties,” the message says.
Recall, on September 25 in Chuguev the military aircraft An-26 crashed. On board were 27 people: officers and cadets of the Kharkov National University of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Only one cadet survived.
On October 22, the government commission to investigate the An-26 plane crash established the causes of the crash. According to the chairman of the commission, the deputy prime minister and minister of Strategic Industries Oleg Urusky, the main and secondary causes of the plane crash were identified. So among a number of reasons, both pilot errors and aircraft technical failures, namely the failure of the PRT-24 system (limiting temperature control system).
On September 18, the State Investigation Office announced suspicions to the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Drozdov, of official negligence in the case of the accident of the An-26 plane.
In addition, the Kiev Pechersky Court detained the commander of the military unit in Chuguev Vyacheslav Glazunov and the head of the flights of the military unit A-4104 in Chuguev Alexander Zhuk.
