In 2021 Russia continues to transfer to occupied Crimea military personnel, weapons and equipment. At the same time, the situation on the border of Ukraine with the peninsula is stable.
The Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Sergei Naev, told Ukrinform in a comment. He noted that the Russian Federation is turning Crimea into a powerful military base.
To cover the military regions of northern Crimea, near Ukraine, the Russian Federation maintains a group of troops with a total strength of approximately 1,5 thousand military personnel.
“It should be noted that this grouping is formed on the basis of the units of the coastal troops of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, which, taking into account the sea and air components, total approximately 33 thousand military and are involved in tasks rotary“, – added Naev.
In general, the land force includes more than 11.5 thousand soldiers. The enemy on the territory of the peninsula equips defensive lines and firing positions, expands reconnaissance capabilities. Ukraine monitors and controls these processes, assured the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The armed forces of the Russian Federation are brought to Crimea from the mainland. equipment and weapons… Among them are three Protivnik-G mobile radar stations and ten RKhM-6 chemical reconnaissance vehicles based on the BTR-80. In addition, the fleet recently adopted the patrol boat “Sergei Kotov” and the small missile boat “Graivoron”.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, in March, Ukrainian paratroopers, in parallel with Russian troops, will conduct military exercises near temporarily occupied Crimea.
