In Slovenia, a 22-year-old girl deliberately cut her arm off with a circular saw to get more than € 1 million insurance.
The girl’s name is Julia Adlesich. For fraud, the court sentenced her to two years in prison, writes “BBC News Ukraine”.
The Slovenian cut her left arm just above the wrist. She claimed to have suffered while cutting branches.
As established by the Ljubljana court, a year before the injury, the girl issued five insurance policies. Her boyfriend helped her in a fraudulent scheme. She was sentenced to three years in prison and her father received a one-year suspended sentence.
It is observed that during the hospitalization, the girl did not take the amputated limb with her so that the disability was irreversible. However, the hand was found and stitched up.
The prosecutor’s office said that a few days before the incident, Yulia’s boyfriend searched the Internet for information on how artificial hands work. This became another proof of the suspect’s guilt.
At trial, the girl denied her guilt, stating that “no one wants to be crippled.”
If the fraudulent scheme worked, the couple would receive more than half a million euros at a time, and the rest, in regular monthly payments.
