In the Nikolaev region, a 27-year-old Mitsubishi Lancer driver had an accident when he hit a tree. He left the car and drove into town, where he was hit by a car on the road.
The man died from his injuries at the scene of the accident and the culprit fled. The tragedy took place on January 3 at the intersection of Kosmonavtov and Troitskaya streets in the Ingulsky district, reports the region’s National Police Department.
According to preliminary data, the driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer lost control and went off the road colliding with a tree. He headed towards the town of Meshkovo-Pogorelovo; There, near a gas station at the checkpoint, he fell under the wheels of an Audi A6 driven by a 39-year-old local resident.
It is noted that after a while the culprit returned to the scene of the fatal accident in another car.
The circumstances and causes of the accident are established by law enforcement officers. As part of the investigation, several expert examinations were appointed, including the determination of the intoxication status of the Audi A6.
The police registered criminal proceedings under Part 2 of art. 286 of the Penal Code “Violation of the rules of road safety or of the transport operation by people who drive vehicles, resulting in death”. The sanction of the article provides a penalty of up to eight years in prison.
