Ukraine is developing its own coronavirus vaccine. The candidate is preparing for the clinical trial stage, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said in a video interview with Ze Interviewer.
He noted that the national candidate for the vaccine has undergone preclinical testing on animals for six months.
“They did it (tests, – ed.) In mice, they did it in rabbits. They showed that antibodies are produced for the introduction of an antigen, which is a Ukrainian candidate for a vaccine., – emphasized Stepanov.
The head of the Ministry of Health added that Diaprof-Med with employees of the Institute of Microbiology is developing a COVID vaccine in our country.
Furthermore, according to Stepanov, studies conducted in laboratories in Turkey and the United States have shown that our development completely neutralizes the virus in living cells.
Now, the minister stressed, 100,000 doses must be made, and then all clinical trials must be carried out. Stepanov added that the country will receive the national vaccine in a year after passing all the necessary stages.
Recall that in Ukraine, the authorities decided who will be the first to receive the COVID vaccine. Ukraine expects to receive more than 8 million doses of COVAX vaccine and to buy the rest.
