The Ukrainian minister called on the condition for the opening of channels.

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of “Temporarily Occupied Territories” Alexander Reznikov said Kiev does not intend to supply water to Crimea. They are willing to make an exception only for the inhabitants of the peninsula, but only if requested by the UN and the Red Cross.

Reznik said in an interview with “Public News” that the opening of the channels through which water was supplied to Crimea from the territory of Ukraine could not be discussed until the complete “unemployment” of the peninsula.

Furthermore, if the Red Cross and the UN declare a humanitarian catastrophe in Crimea, Kiev is ready to make an exception and send “water tanks” to Crimea under the control of humanitarian convoys.

Reznik emphasized that Kiev does not intend to “irrigate” military bases and “militarized Crimean production.” At the same time, the Ukrainian minister pointed out that his sources in Crimea are sufficient to supply water to the civilian population.

Before Crimea became part of Russia, the peninsula was 80 percent supplied with water through the North Crimean Canal. However, after the referendum, Kiev closed it, as a result, many reservoirs on the peninsula were shallow.
