In the Obolonsky district of Kiev on December 23, around midnight, the police chased Hyundai, which did not stop at the request of the patrol cars.
An informed source told OBOZREVATEL that the car stopped moving only after police opened fire.
“A man with a gunshot wound to the head was found in the cabin. He was immediately hospitalized. Perhaps the driver tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head with a traumatic pistol,” said our interlocutor.
The press service of the Kiev patrol police said that while they were drafting administrative materials about a drunk driver, they tried to arrest Hyundai to attract its owner as a witness. Instead, the foreign car sped away.
Police said that during the chase, the fugitive driver repeatedly violated traffic rules and ignored demands to stop. They managed to do this on Pravdy Avenue, blocking his movement. While trying to escape, the driver nearly collided with a policeman who was forced to open fire. Only after that did the car stop.
“The Hyundai driver with a head injury was hospitalized and operated on. Doctors removed a rubber bullet from a traumatic pistol. Upon examining his belongings, a bag of a white powdery substance similar to a narcotic was found,” he concluded police.
Earlier, OBOZREVATEL reported that in Kiev, on Heroes de Cosmos street, the patrol police stopped a suspicious car, from which passengers got out and one of them started shooting. Despite the injury, the policeman responded with a service firearm and, together with his partner, arrested three men.
