A new outbreak of coronavirus infection has been reported in Kiev. This was announced at a briefing on May 15 by Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
“In Kiev, a new outbreak of coronavirus disease. 81 people have confirmed the disease at a boarding school for girls in Darnitsa today. First, a sick female worker was found, after which they performed PCR tests for all students and the institution staff, “he said.
According to him, 182 people were examined at the boarding school, 81 of them had coronaviruses. 53 inmates between the ages of 7 and 35, as well as 26 women and two men on the boarding school staff, fell ill. Three sick employees are hospitalized, the rest are in home isolation.
“The infected inmates of the institution are in satisfactory condition and receive medical attention in a boarding school,” said Klitschko.
According to the authorities, a nurse from one of the internment groups brought the coronavirus to the institution.
“I note that such boarding schools are working behind closed doors. No one visits them except the staff. The Darnitsa girls’ boarding school is now fully quarantined. There are improved disinfection activities and medical examinations. Rescuers and police are on duty at the entrance to the territory”. – said the mayor
He added that the Kiev authorities in the near future will also evaluate the staff and students of the Svyatoshinsky pension for children, two urban institutions for the elderly and four specialized institutions for women and men.
As of May 15, Ukraine confirmed 17,330 cases of coronavirus infection, 476 of which died and 4,473 recovered. Kiev ranks second in the number of infected people: 2,068 people got sick in the city, 43 of them died, 200 recovered.
