In Kiev, the driver, who was trying to bribe the police, found drugs worth UAH 20 million, according to the press service of the capital’s police.
While patrolling the Goloseevsky district, the police received orientation about a Honda car, which is on the wanted list. At Akademik Glushkov Avenue, they noticed and stopped to check a car that matched the description. During the communication, the behavior of the driver seemed suspicious, so they decided to inspect the vehicle.
The driver began to get nervous and offered the police 8 thousand hryvnyas not to inspect the car. However, the patrolmen rejected the illegal offer and carried out an inspection.
Inside the car, they found 40 plastic bags with a crystalline substance with a total weight of about 40 kg and “an object that looked like a pistol with cartridges.” The police do not specify what kind of narcotic substance was in the packages, but argue that at black market prices, the cost of the seizure is about 20 million UAH.
According to the detainee, he did not know the contents of the packages, he only had to deliver them from another city and receive 1,000 hryvnyas for it. The 36-year-old man lives in Kiev and has not been previously prosecuted.
The driver was arrested in accordance with art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine. The seized physical evidence was sent for examination.
