A strict lockdown will be introduced in Germany on December 16. It will run until at least January 10.

It is reported by DW.

Such a statement was made today by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the prime ministers of 16 German federal states.

It is indicated that retail stores will be closed throughout the country, with the exception of food. Full-time education will stop at schools, kindergartens will be closed.

At the same time, pharmacies, dry goods, gas stations, banks, savings banks and post offices will remain open.

Some other exceptions are also provided. On the Christmas holidays (December 24-26), gatherings were allowed in a close family circle with the participation of no more than five people, excluding children under 14 years of age. On New Years (December 31 and December 1), gatherings are prohibited and citizens are also strongly advised to refuse to launch fireworks.

The post notes that during the strict lockdown period, you are allowed to attend church services, but only if social distancing and mask regime are observed. But singing in temples was forbidden.

In addition, major services will only be admitted by appointment. From January 16 to 10, Germans are advised to refuse to travel to other regions of Germany or abroad, except in cases where it is absolutely necessary.

At the same time, businesses affected by the lockdown can count on more extensive assistance from the state. The maximum amount of the aid increases from 200 to 500 thousand euros, but only for those companies that are directly or indirectly threatened with bankruptcy.

Remember, yesterday it became known that the German government is considering the possibility of increasing the quarantine. It was announced that Merkel will discuss this with the leaders of the states.

As RBC-Ukraine wrote, Switzerland is tightening the quarantine amid an increase in the incidence of the coronavirus.
