The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Tiran Khachatryan, in an interview with Yerevan. Today’s journalists ridiculed Pashinyan’s words about the “unexploded” missiles from the “Iskander” complexes. For this, Khachatryan was fired and the General Staff demanded the resignation of Pashinyan and his government on February 25. The military believes that the prime minister is no longer capable of making proper decisions.
In response, the Prime Minister announced the resignation of the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff, Onik Gasparyan, calling the incident “an attempted military coup” and announcing a meeting of his supporters in Yerevan’s Republic Square. Both supporters and opponents of the prime minister took to the streets of Yerevan, the opposition set up tents in front of the building of the National Assembly of Armenia.
On February 27, Armenian President Armen Sarkisian refused to remove the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, as the draft decree, in his opinion, contradicts the country’s constitution.
The ruling “My Step” faction in the Armenian parliament began to speak about the possibility of an impeachment against Sargsyan due to his refusal to sign the decree.
