A powerful explosion occurred in the center of the American city of Nashville, Tennessee.
This was reported by WTX News. According to preliminary data, an explosive device in a car could have detonated.
The incident took place in the city center around 06:30 local time.
Police spokesman Don Aaron said law enforcement officials regard the incident as a deliberate act.
Three people were taken to hospitals from the scene, but none are in critical condition.
Nashville Mayor John Cooper told the media that he “knew about the explosion” and was on his way to the scene.
“All of our specialists are dispatched to the scene of the explosion to find out the cause, and I am sure more information will be released soon,” Cooper said.
According to eyewitnesses, after a strong explosion, debris and broken glass fell from a nearby building.
At the scene of the incident, emergency services and the police began to work. According to some media reports, a car bomb could have been the source of the explosion. Sappers speculate that other vehicles in the city center may contain additional explosive devices.
Several fires broke out in the disaster area, the entire center was covered in thick smoke.
