The IMF postponed two tranches for Ukraine until 2021
Cooperation with the currency fund and its trust in Ukraine is more important than loans, the Finance Ministry assured.
The IMF has postponed Ukraine’s receipt of the next two tranches of $ 700 million until 2021, Finance Ministry head Sergei Marchenko said, according to the department’s press service on Wednesday, December 30.
“They (tranches – ed.) Have been postponed to next year. Initially, we are talking about $ 700 million, which we can receive after reviewing the program, its approval at the mission level and IMF management,” said Marchenko .
The minister added that Ukraine needs funds for loans from the IMF, but trust in Ukraine as a partner is no less important. At the same time, the Ministry of Finance “was and is in constant communication with the fund’s experts.”
We recall that previously the IMF spoke about the mission’s work in Ukraine. The current mission may take longer than usual due to its virtual nature. It will continue next year.
At the same time, the NBU said there was no talk of refusing to cooperate with the IMF. Ukraine will not reject loans from international financial institutions, said the head of the central bank.
