The IMF has no right to Ukraine’s implementation of the stand-by agreement
The fund cannot claim how Ukraine meets the requirements of the stand-by agreement, the Finance Ministry assured.
The IMF has questions about the Constitutional Court’s decision on NABU. This was stated by Deputy Finance Minister Yuri Draganchuk in an interview with Novy Vremya, the department’s press service reported on Thursday, October 22.
According to him, the IMF has no complaints about how Ukraine is complying with the agreements on the current stand-by agreement, although before there was concern about the resignation of the head of NBU, Yanov Smoliy, but now everything has returned to normal.
“There is a new head of the National Bank, we see that the system is working in a stable manner, everything is fine, there have been no changes in the banking sector due to the change of personalities. That is, the new administration of the NBU adheres to a course determined, the independent National Bank works as it did, “emphasized Draganchuk.
The official added that the Fund is monitoring the situation with the Constitutional Court’s decision on NABU.
“This decision foresees changes to the law on NABU, which must be introduced and adopted. And the IMF, of course, is watching this process,” Draganchuk explained.
At the same time, there are no obstacles to Ukraine receiving a tranche this year, summarized the deputy minister.
Earlier, the IMF assessed the prospect of cooperation with Kiev. The guarantee of the allocation of the tranche by the end of the year and further cooperation is the fulfillment of Ukraine’s obligations, in particular, the implementation of reforms.
In addition, the head of the National Bank explained that there would be no IMF tranches. The lack of money from the IMF can affect prices and the currency market in Ukraine. NBU is still waiting for the next tranche by the end of the year.
