According to Ukraine’s Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, with a request for emergency financing, Ukraine turned to the International Monetary Fund due to the problems that arose in the country.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has denied emergency financial assistance to Ukraine (emergency financing). This was announced on November 27 on the air of the television channel 1 + 1 by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko.
He noted that Kiev turned to the emergency funding tool due to the problems that had arisen in the country.
“We consider this issue in relation to the current situation. But I will tell you the response of our partners at the International Monetary Fund:” Dear Ukraine, you have a program, so please, we are ready to cooperate on this program. Currently, we are not considering the issue of emergency finances for you, “explained Marchenko.
He stressed that the IMF’s response to Ukraine was “clear.”
Ukraine cooperates with the IMF in a new reserve program. The Board of Executive Directors of the Fund approved it on June 9 of this year. It is supposed to allocate $ 5 billion to Ukraine in four tranches. On June 12, Ukraine received $ 2.1 billion from the first tranche.
Marchenko said in September that Ukraine expects to receive two tranches of $ 700 million from the IMF by the end of the year. However, the deputy director of the National Bank of Ukraine, Dmitry Sologub, believes that this opportunity has already been lost and it is necessary to try to get one. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in the current situation, Ukraine’s economy I need money from the IMF.
