Ukraine has banned two top Hungarian officials from entering the country due to the campaign for local elections in the Transcarpathian region. Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“Two high-ranking Hungarian officials who, during this election campaign, resorted to direct campaigns in the Transcarpathian region, are already prohibited from entering Ukraine. One of them is the Secretary of State of the Office of the Hungarian Prime Minister,” Kuleba said. .
According to him, the Ukrainian side initiated the introduction of an entry ban on several more Hungarians, who actively interfered in the internal affairs of Ukraine during the election campaign.
“Our partners will soon be informed in detail about the fact of interference in the elections by Hungary, and we have already informed the OSCE observation mission about this,” said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
He stressed that in this situation there can be no different readings and it was a “concrete interference” in the internal affairs of Ukraine.
“It is not necessary to reduce everything to a single post on Facebook by my colleague Peter Siyjarto. It is about Hungarian politics in general. Our position is very simple, we evaluated these actions yesterday. The behavior of the Hungarian authorities on the eve of the elections and Election day is interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine, “Kuleba said.
He added that Ukraine is inclined to be constructive in its relations with Hungary, however, it will take clear and tough measures if Budapest neglects Ukraine’s interests and legislation.
“My principle is very simple: if they hit you, you have to hit back,” summed up the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.
