I would prefer the match to take place, but this is the order ᐉ UA-Football

Lucerne canton doctor Roger Harstall, who quarantined the Ukrainian team due to the COVID 19 outbreak, commented on his decision and as a result, cancellation of the League of Nations match Switzerland – Ukraine.

– Mr. Harstall, you have quarantined the Ukrainian national team. How did this decision come about?

The team had five infections before the game with Germany and three after. The victims were immediately placed in isolation. After arriving in Switzerland, the entire delegation passed the tests again. This morning’s result showed one more person tested positive, plus three other older cases tested positive.

– Is the situation similar to Shakiri’s?

– Yes, it was one of those cases. The test can show a positive result even if the disease is gone and it is no longer considered contagious.

– Nine cases in four days is an uncontrollable situation?

– We are assuming that UEFA’s defense concept has been respected when passing the tests. But I cannot verify this. And despite current test results, it is possible for people who test negative to test positive as the week progresses.

It is possible that there are players with negative tests who carry the disease, but since they recently contracted it, the virus has not spread as much yet, so the test shows a negative result. Therefore, the entire Ukrainian team is now in quarantine and cannot play for Switzerland.

– Does this mean that the entire Ukrainian delegation will stay in the hotel in Lucerne for ten days?

– No, not necessarily. Under certain conditions, it is possible to leave the hotel and go home.

– In theory Ukraine could play Switzerland as a youth team.

– This should be decided by UEFA. It is clear that the current team cannot play in Lucerne. This is the order.

– How difficult is it to make such an important decision?

– Personal pressure is limited as the medical facts are clear. I support this decision one hundred percent. Of course, I would have preferred that this game could take place and Switzerland could get three points in the usual way. I speak in private, but as a doctor I will say that in the given circumstances this is impossible.

– Are you a soccer fan?

– Yes, I played soccer myself, but it shouldn’t affect me emotionally. It’s about health.
