Ukraine’s Naftogaz will offer consumers the lowest prices in the gas market, Zelensky said.
State-owned companies, in particular Ukraine’s Naftogaz gas supply company, can help the population to save on gas bills. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a working trip to the Ivano-Frankivsk region, reports the press service of the head of state.
He recalled that a gas market for the population began to operate in Ukraine from August 2020, and now citizens can freely choose a gas supplier with favorable conditions.
“State companies are necessary to work in the public interest, to create profitable opportunities for ordinary people. Naftogaz must clearly show the Ukrainians how the company will provide gas at a cheaper price, ”Zelensky said.
According to him, he has already discussed the issue of prices for the population with the chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Andrey Kobolev.
“Even though the country has switched to the gas market and the market dictates prices, Naftogaz still has the cheapest prices of all suppliers today,” Zelensky said.
As reported, today in Ukraine more than 50 companies supply gas to households. Depending on the supplier and the region, gas prices differ significantly, between 30% and 40%..
The price of regional gas sales in January is on average 9.9 UAH / cubic meter VAT included but excluding distribution costs. The price of Naftogaz from Ukraine GC is 7.22 UAH / cubic meter.
“We even found a company that offered a 50% higher price than Naftogaz,” Zelensky said.
“Naftogaz will offer the lowest prices on the market. And he will fight to lower the price despite the market, “he added.
Zelensky also asked local authorities to explain to people how they can save on gas bills, in particular by choosing a state supplier, as well as using the services of the state Oschadbank to change gas supplier and make deals.
“The gas supplier change process is still possible remotely via the Internet and at partner offices. If the consumer decides to change providers and has chosen a new one, this does not require an agreement with the previous provider or replacement of equipment. The new provider independently solves all formal problems related to the transfer of the consumer to another company. When the gas supplier is changed, the benefits and subsidies remain ”, added the Presidency.
