Before Sandu became president, she flew to Ukraine as prime minister.
“I met with her and I know her position on Crimea, I understand her position on Ukraine as a whole on the war in Donbass much more than the position of the previous president (Igor) Dodon. […] I had no further contacts with other government leaders or with the previous government in Moldova, for obvious reasons, which I have just explained to you, ”Zelensky explained.
Sandu promised to make his first foreign presidential visit to Ukraine. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has already invited her to participate in the activities of the Crimean platform.
On November 15, the second round of the presidential elections took place in Moldova, Sandu received the support of 57.72% of the voters, while his opponent, the current president of the country, Igor Dodon, received 42.28%. Sandu’s inauguration is scheduled for December 24.
Sandu announced on November 25 his intention to hold meetings with Zelensky and Romanian President Klaus Johaniss immediately after the inauguration.
