Ukraine’s first uproar Elina Svitolina admitted that she spends little time in the country and is not ready to enter politics.
– Now it is fashionable to do politics – Nobody calls you there?
– They ask me, but to be honest, at the moment it is difficult to say something, because I do not live in Ukraine, I do not have a complete picture of what is happening here. Therefore, at the moment I am not even considering such an option. I think that people who are involved in politics should live in Ukraine, they should know what is happening here, how everything works. I left when I was 14-15 years old and I have no idea.
– But they probably invited you to a party?
– No, they didn’t call me, but sometimes they make fun of me because I need to get into politics. And I know that many athletes have left. I had no direct invitations.
– How much do you follow the events in Ukraine – politics, something else?
– I see interviews with different politicians, I wonder what is happening, especially recently, when they were elected president [Владимира] Zelensky. Because after all, we have an interesting situation.
But this is at a low level, I would say, and I don’t even want to go in there, because I know that there are many different moments that happen … For me politics is a kind of danger, I would say.
