Peter Siyarto complained to NATO about searches in Transcarpathia
The Hungarian Foreign Minister, due to the searches in Transcarpathia, addressed the Foreign Ministers of the NATO countries with two requests.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyjarto informed his NATO colleagues of the searches for officials of one of Transcarpathia’s charitable foundations and asked them to show solidarity with Budapest. Siyjarto posted the corresponding video on his Facebook page.
According to him, recent searches indicate that intimidation of Hungarians and incitement to hatred against Hungarians are still at the level of central government policy.
“This is obviously a scandal and is unacceptable in the 21st century. Especially from a country that says it wants to get closer to NATO,” the minister said.
Peter Siyjarto made two requests to the NATO Foreign Ministers. In addition to showing solidarity, he urged not to pressure Hungary to abandon its veto on holding Ukraine-NATO Council meetings at ministerial level. After a search on Monday, he said that no one could expect the same gesture from Hungary after such events.
The foreign ministers of the European Union will meet in Brussels next Monday, and Siyjarto will also raise the issue there, asking his colleagues to comment on this issue and show solidarity.
Note that Siyarto previously ran for the OSCE because of Transcarpathia.
It was previously reported that the deputies of the Syurt Rural United Territorial Community, after taking the oath, sang the Hungarian anthem. The corresponding video was posted online.
Shortly after, a video appeared in which at the entrance to the city of Beregovo a man in camouflage clothing against the background of the symbols of the Right Sector threatens the Transcarpathian Hungarians.
The head of the OTG called the video with the deputies interpreting the Hungarian anthem “provocation”
