This week, both Romania and Norway, who by the way played in the same Eurocup qualifying group (there were two draws), lost their last chance to play in the continental championship final. The former lost to Iceland in the playoff selection, the latter to Serbia. Both teams are 1: 2, although the Scandinavians are in overtime. However, it seems that the extra half hour of play did not prevent the Norwegians from regaining their physical condition faster. This time, the Norway team made the most of the potential of their young stars: Martin Edegaard of Real Madrid and Erling Holland of Borussia Dortmund.
The first goal turned out to be especially effective, which marked the beginning of the opponent’s defeat. Odegaard hit the ball into the center circle and Erling started to accelerate from the center line. And when the forward was ready to burst into the penalty area, the midfielder delivered a 30-meter split pass – one on one and one goal!
Before the break, Leipzig’s Alexander Sorlot doubled the lead with a cross. And in the second half the Netherlands scored two more times. First, he again took advantage of Edegor’s pass, who fired along the goal. And then he hit from the penalty line to the top corner.
Interestingly, the Netherlands scores in this way in the third consecutive Nations League game. Before that, he scored a goal for Austria and twice knocked on the doors of Northern Ireland. That is, while he has six goals in three matches of the tournament. This allowed Norway to lead the quartet, however Austria have yet to play their match with Northern Ireland.
