That’s it. The most important elections in the world in the last 30-40 years are over. The Americans chose, but their choice was important, even for the Ukrainians. Because the United States is the first power in the world. Because the United States is Ukraine’s main ally in the war with Russia. Because the United States is the main force that propels Ukraine on the path of reforms.
And Biden won. Trump would not be Trump if he admitted defeat. So this is a time to work and wait. But these are your personal problems. The choice has been made. And the choice is determined. Order, common sense, coherence and support for Ukraine returned to the White House. The deep state is back.
Why is it so important that Biden won? Because Trump has lost. Why is it so important that Trump lost? Because Trump hacked democracy. As a result, the largest democracy in the world was headed by a man who was organically looking somewhere for third world dictators. Destructive institutions, chaos, incompetent populist. Ukrainians are well aware of what this means.
And if for a third world country it is a problem exclusively for the country itself, then when that person is at the head of the United States it is a problem for the whole world. Value problems. Security. And again security. And the second consecutive term of such a person could have disastrous consequences. Those are just Trump’s attacks on NATO. Furthermore, the United States is often an example and a symbol for the entire world. Such a symbol was obtained. President constantly lying, spreading forgeries and conspiracy theories. Undermining the basis of western civilization cooperation.
It is important to understand. The backbone of any successful country in the modern world is made up of functioning institutions and the rule of law. This is the foundation on which absolutely everything is based. And Trump, like a garden mole, with a passion that requires a different application, destroyed this foundation. The country couldn’t move forward, constantly drowning in the endless squabbles and struggles that Trump sparked. Trump took the most precious thing in America and the world: time. Ukrainians also understand what this means.
The United States is the main force propelling Ukraine on the path of reforms
It is not about choosing between Republicans and Democrats. It is a matter of choosing between chaos and order. Between governance and populism. Between values and friendship with Putin. After all, between tolerance and respect for others and racism and sexism. It is about choosing between the past, to whose values and methods Trump constantly appeals, and the future. And in no way is it about choosing an economic model.
This is why these elections were so important to the world. Which, in the context of growing inequality, can drown in populism rather than seek a solution to the problem of growing inequality itself. This can be very expensive. Once upon a time, in 1917, populism already dominated the ball. Shouldn’t we know how it ends?
Now, why are they so important to Ukraine?
Now, in addition to bipartisan support for Ukraine, there is support in the White House. In principle, any president of the United States other than Trump would be a friend of Ukraine. Simply because any systemic politician in the United States is a friend of Ukraine. And an ally of Ukraine, because here, at the forefront, we defend the same values on which the United States is based. Anyone other than Trump. Which is far from concept «values ”, which he sympathizes with Putin and, as we know from Bolton’s book, hates Ukraine. So any Republican or Democrat would be a friend of Ukraine. But Biden is a special case. You also understand what is happening here. And you know very well how many different people are hampering the reforms.
So America’s attention to implementing reforms in Ukraine will multiply a hundredfold. Which is good news. Because sadly, just a magic pendel «from there ”can force the Ukrainian authorities to reform and fire those who sabotage the reforms.
Of course, I would like to convey a special greeting to the guys from the Bankova Street office. Who, back in the winter, wanted to sell trash to Trump about Biden and receive tranches from the IMF for it, without making reforms. As a result, we saw press conferences between Derkach and Dubinsky, and announcements from the president of new films. Now the boys will burn the ground under their feet. There is a myth in Ukraine that Trump brought the American economy to its knees. A very curious and strange myth, which is mainly based on Trump’s tweets about himself. So Trump won the election in 2016. The US economy has grown continuously since 2009. Thus, before Trump, the US economy grew for 7 years in a row. The jobs have been growing for 7 years in a row. 7 years in a row unemployment has been reduced. It was a trend. And Trump straddled that wave. And that’s it. Like a surfer. Yes, Trump has cut corporate taxes. What did they do with the empty cache? We went public and bought our shares. Quite an achievement. Inflating the bubble.
In this election, we had to support Biden. And in the next it will be the same. And this is the main point. The situation returns to normal. Now we can be sure again that the White House is our ally. It remains to have confidence in yourself.
