The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will be completed, but when exactly is unknown.
This was stated by the German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, in an interview with the editorial association Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND).
Speaking about criticism of the project from Washington, Maas said: “We make decisions about our energy policy and energy supply here in Europe.”
In addition, the minister pointed out that the Federal Republic of Germany will not abandon the dialogue with the Russian Federation over the poisoning of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, since Moscow is necessary to resolve regional conflicts.
“Our relationship with Russia will remain difficult,” he said.
According to Maas, “a European response from Russia to unacceptable actions in the future should follow.”
“We are sitting at the same table with Russia in the UN Security Council, in the Berlin process on Libya and on the Ukraine issue. In all forums, we are talking about finding a solution to end the wars.” said the minister.
“In this sense, the dialogue with Moscow cannot end,” Maas stressed.
We will recall, in September in Germany, MPs were unable to adopt a resolution to stop the “Nord Stream-2”.
Before that, the FRG authorities offered the United States one billion euros for the exemption from sanctions against Nord Stream-2.
Note that even on September 11, Maas said authorities are considering stopping construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline due to the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
