Heart failure syndrome doubles the risk of death of coronavirus infection.
This was stated by British scientists, who carried out large-scale research. It was posted on the ESC Heart Failure website.
The lead author of the work, cardiologist Amardip Dastidar emphasized that people with this disease should be at high risk any age. They also need to be especially careful about quarantine restrictions.
The study says that of 283 patients admitted to a hospital in North Bristol, UK within 30 days, two-thirds had chronic heart failure. These patients also had a high mortality rate.
“This may directly indicate an interaction or a predisposition to worse outcomes for patients with acute heart failure with overlapping coronavirus infection,” the doctor said.
Note that heart failure is a syndrome that occurs due to a deterioration in the pumping function of the heart, which leads to its inability to provide a normal blood supply to the entire body. There is a violation of the circulation of nutrients and oxygen, stagnation of the blood occurs.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, WHO has named the 10 deadliest noncommunicable diseases in 20 years. They represent 7 of the 10 leading causes of death.
