In Ukraine, 45% of those who have reached their 60th birthday will have to work until they are 63 or 65 after six years. This will happen due to stricter seniority requirements.

This is stated in the OBOZREVATEL material. The decision to introduce new seniority requirements was made in 2017.

January 2022. The seniority requirements will increase by 12 months. Whoever does not meet the conditions must work until age 63 or 65:

  • at 60, those with 29 or more years of experience will retire;

  • At 63, those with 19 to 29 years of experience will retire;

  • At age 65, those with 15 to 19 years of experience will retire.

It is worth noting that seniority began to be taken into account strictly only from the early 2000s, before workbooks could be in non-active companies, and seniority was taken into account.

January 2023. To retire at age 60, you must have at least 30 years of experience. This requirement can no longer be met by a significant number of Ukrainians, notes Tkachenko. Little by little the number of those who are forced to work until the age of 63 and 65 will increase:

  • at 60, those with 30 or more years of experience will retire;

  • At 63, those with 20 to 30 years of experience will retire;

  • At age 65, those with 15 to 20 years of experience will retire.

January 2024:

  • at 60, those with 31 or more years of experience will retire;

  • At 63, those with 21 to 31 years of experience will retire;

  • At age 65, those with 15 to 21 years of experience will retire.

January 2025:

  • at 60, those with 32 or more years of experience will retire;

  • at 63, those with 22 to 32 years of experience will retire;

  • At age 65, those with 15 to 22 years of experience will retire.

January 2026:

  • at 60, those with 33 or more years of experience will retire;

  • at 63, those with 23 to 33 years of experience will retire;

  • At age 65, those with 15 to 23 years of experience will retire.

January 2027:

  • at 60, those with 34 or more years of experience will retire;

  • at 63, those with 24 to 34 years of experience will retire;

  • At age 65, those with 15 to 24 years of experience will retire.

January 2028:

  • at 60, those with 35 or more years of experience will retire;

  • at 63, those with 25 to 35 years of experience will retire;

  • At age 65, those with 15 to 25 years of experience will retire.
