“As part of the pre-trial investigation, the circumstances of the unauthorized access and the people who committed it are established. Currently, the website of the National Police of Ukraine is under maintenance, specialists are working to resume their work, ”the message says.
On this fact, a criminal proceeding was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 361 (Unauthorized interference in the operation of electronic computers (computers), automated systems, computer networks or telecommunications networks) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for a prison sentence of three to six years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or carry out certain activities for up to three years.
Cyber police investigate the circumstances of unauthorized access to the website and identify the individuals involved.
The representative of the National Police also pointed out that similar criminal proceedings were initiated for the fact of unauthorized interference in the work of the Varash municipality, where unknown persons also published false information today.
Hacker Attack on Government Websites: Background
On Wednesday, September 23, the National Police announced an unauthorized interference on the official website. In this regard, false information was spread on some Internet pages of the regional police departments.
The official website of the City of Varas published false information on the release of radioactive substances at the Rivne nuclear power plant, as well as on the evacuation of the local population.
