The plenipotentiary of the president of Russia in the trilateral contact group Boris Gryzlov did not participate in the meeting of the TCG at the level of heads of delegation, said the delegation of Ukraine.

The plenipotentiary representative of Russian President Boris Gryzlov did not attend the meeting of the trilateral contact group, which took place online. The press service of the Ukrainian delegation announced it on Facebook.

“Today, a regular meeting of the trilateral contact group was held at the level of heads of delegation via videoconference. Unfortunately, we did not see Mr. Gryzlov in the trilateral contact group,” the statement said.

The reasons for Gryzlov’s absence are not reported.

The press service of the Ukrainian delegation noted that Ukraine recalled at the TCG meeting: Kiev’s position is that the basis for the resolution of the conflict is the Minsk agreements as such and the set of agreements reached during the four Normandy summits. . For this, the “Plan of joint steps” is proposed, says the statement.

At the meeting, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Leonid Kravchuk, reiterated his demand that the Russian side assume political responsibility. Russia must formally define its position on the need to comply with the agreements reached at the highest level in Paris at the 2019 summit, he stressed.

In addition, the press service of the Ukrainian delegation noted that in five days the Russian side will have no formal reason not to open the entry-exit checkpoints “Happiness” and “Zolote” in the Lugansk region by the militants.

All technical conditions for such an opening (in particular, the turning point of the bus) will be met by the government of Ukraine at that time, the delegation stressed.

In 2014, immediately after the annexation of Crimea, Russia launched an armed aggression in eastern Ukraine. The fighting is between the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the one hand, and the Russian army and the Russian-backed militants who control parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, on the other. The Russian Federation does not officially recognize its invasion of Ukraine, despite the facts and evidence presented by Ukraine.

Negotiations on the resolution of the conflict in Donbass are taking place in the trilateral contact group in Minsk (Ukraine, Russia, OSCE), as well as in the Normandy format, with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia.

On December 9, Paris hosted a summit of the leaders of the Normandy Four. Its final communiqué establishes that the parties agreed to a ceasefire, the opening of new checkpoints, the exchange of detainees according to the formula of “all for all” until December 31, 2019, the disconnection of forces and resources in three new areas in Donbass, the extension of the law for one year. “On a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions” and the extension of the mandate of the special OSCE monitoring mission. The agreements were partially implemented. The next summit was expected to take place in March-April 2020, but this did not happen.
