Starting in 2021, the final state certification in mathematics will be mandatory for graduates of Ukrainian schools. This was announced by Tatiana Vakulenko, deputy director of the Center for Evaluation of the Quality of Education.

It should be noted that previous graduates could choose between mathematics and Ukrainian history.

“The final state certification from 2021 for applicants for full general secondary education will be compulsory in the Ukrainian language, in mathematics. This is an innovation. I remind you that before you could choose between mathematics or the history of Ukraine. History of Ukraine or a foreign language, as well as one of the academic subjects in choice “, – said Vakulenko.

At the same time, he emphasized that all countries that want to strengthen their innovative potential are introducing a compulsory test in mathematics.

As a reminder, this year, twice the number of participants exceeded 200 UPE points than in 2019.

At the same time, 8.3% of applicants did not pass the VNO in Ukrainian. For the UPE in Ukrainian language and literature, 22 test points were established as a threshold result.
