Goal from offside. Desna beat Minaj to the minimum

Saturday’s program of the ninth round of the Ukrainian Premier League was completed with the match in the capital “Obolon-Arena” between Chernihiv “Desna” and Transcarpathian “Minai”.

Vasily Kobin’s side, which was considered an outsider before the game, almost opened the scoring in the fifth minute, when Gitchenko played one-handed after Nureyev’s lumbago, for which the referee called a penalty. However, Pasta saved the crossbar, from which the ball flew after Nureyev’s performance.

Desna had a chance to score in the middle of the first half. Kanibolotskiy made a mistake at the start after a free kick, unsuccessfully knocked out the ball and Tamm was able to score, but the Estonian did not take advantage of this gift, breaking over the empty goal.

In general, in the first half, the game was roughly even, and in terms of severity the moments were more interesting for “Minai.” However, on the scoreboard, the opportunity to excel was not reflected in any way, the teams went to halftime with a boring 0: 0. The goal was left for the second half of the game.

In the second half, Oleksandr Ryabokon’s guards came out with a plan to snatch a victory. Desna looked much nicer, had more ball possession, but Minaj responded with very dangerous counterattacks. But the closer the end of regular time approached, the more the teams lacked speed.

And even the substitutions couldn’t refresh the game enough to keep up with the goal scored. If the fight ended in a scoreless draw, the result would be quite logical. But the outcome of the match was decided by a fatal error by the referees. In the 80th minute, Hemp burst into the penalty area from the right flank and fired at Budkovsky, who sent the ball into the goal with a touch.

The replay clearly shows that the goal was scored from an obvious offside position, but neither the assistant chief referee nor Roman Blavatsky himself, for whom this is the first such experience in the Premier League, noticed it. And the absence of the VAR system in the match also helped the hosts, of course.

“Minaj” had nothing to lose, so Kobin’s charges went ahead with all his might. But in some moments there was a lack of precision, in others the goalkeeper of the “Northerners” acted reliably. At the end of the game, desperate, Maymbe burst into the penalty area, after minimal contact with the defender he fell and asked for a penalty, but was sanctioned with a mustard plaster for the drill.

1: 0 – Desna, not without luck, beat the newcomer from the elite division to the minimum and achieved the fourth victory of the season, and at the same time ascended to a third intermediate place in the standings. This is Minai’s fourth loss, Kobin’s team is also the third, but from the end.
