Germany will restrict mass gatherings and impose fines on those who do not respect quarantine rules. That is why the country plans to contain the spread of the coronavirus during the fall and winter.
This was announced on September 29 by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Reuters reports.
According to her, the quarantine in the country will be adaptive and a “total” blockade “at any cost” should be avoided. Merkel added that the number of coronavirus cases in Germany could reach 19,200 per day by Christmas if current trends continue.
“We have learned a lot and we have had a good summer, but we know we have a more difficult time ahead, autumn and winter, and gradual growth. In some areas, the significant increase in infections is worrying,” Merkel told reporters.
Recall that in Germany last Saturday 2507 new cases of coronavirus disease were registered per day. This is the maximum number of infections per day since April.
Furthermore, RBC-Ukraine wrote that in Germany it was proposed to cancel the carnival season due to quarantine.
